My Students

My students are 5th graders located in the beautiful, capital city of Charleston, WV. They are eager learners and have hearts of gold. A large majority of the students come from low socioeconomic homes, but that doesn't keep them from being engaged in the classroom.

I feel that the more engaged in learning they are, the more they will enjoy it, and the more they will retain.

These students love cooperative learning and completing projects. They work hard and are always willing to put forth 100% effort.

My Project

Having a class set of books makes it much easier for every student to comprehend the story we are working on. Creating a positive attitude about reading and giving students access to stories they will enjoy will encourage them to become engaged in reading.

Reading aloud takes students to places they've never been and sparks their curiosity.

I love the stories of "Matilda" and "Holes" and I want to be able to fully share them with my students. I truly believe that reading aloud with my students will build their vocabulary, language & literacy skills, concentration, & love of reading.
