Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education instructional specialist who works with students in preschool - high school. I serve a range of students with autism, multiple disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and other health impairments. All of my students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch, as well as related services like speech, occupational, and physical therapy.

My students are hands-on visual learners!

They are working on all academic subject areas (reading, writing, and math), social skills, adaptive daily living skills, and vocational skills. My students want to learn to be as independent as possible in their daily life and be included in their school communities.

My Project

We are always looking for more resources to help our students, ages 16 - 21 years old, learn to be more independent adults.

Resources that teach about budgeting, credit/debit cards, finding a place to live, and more are things that our students need help with!

Remedia Publications has curriculum books that address a wide variety of life skills topics. The Life-Skills 6 Book Set has structured lessons to build skills necessary for survival in daily life and in the workplace. Lessons emphasize vocabulary, spelling, reading comprehension, handwriting skills, sentence and paragraph writing, and more. The Life-Skills Math 5 Book Set offers a really practical application of math. Each book includes activities such as reading comprehension, filling out forms, using a glossary, and answering math word problems. The Independent Living Series 6 Book Set helps to prepare students for the 'real world.' Essential lessons guide students through common “independent living” situations and offer easy-to-use information, suggestions, and advice.
