Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need a variety of recommended texts from our new reading curriculum by Expeditionary Learning. These books will enrich the students' understanding of the topic during independent reading.
I have twenty fifth grade students in my SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) classroom.
All of the students are learning English as a second language and come from countries such as El Salvador, Columbia, and Peru. All of the students receive free breakfast, snack, and lunch.
My Project
These recommended texts from the publisher of our curriculum will supplement the main topic focused on in class. These books are for independent reading and for the students to digest the topic with the assistance of a partner or the teacher. Students will also use these books for reference for their final projects.
These books will compliment the main topic that we are studying.
It will provide background and enrichment information for the topic of human rights. The students will be exposed to a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts.
