This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students amaze me every day with their curious nature and willingness to learn. I teach in a 2nd grade classroom in a suburb of Houston. My classroom of learners are over 80% free and reduced lunch in a Title I school. Our school is made up of half bilingual Spanish and the other half English classes. My classroom is a Dual Language classroom. My students learn half a day in English and the other half in Spanish. Many of my students were directly affected by Hurricane Harvey and many had significant loss and damage. School is a place for them to get away and have fun learning. They love anything to do with technology, science, and math.

My Project

All of these Science and STEM items will help my students problem solve, create, and engineer. The STEM building kits will foster a love for building and designing structures, simple machines and solving math situations.

Students will build teamwork with classmates and use higher order thinking and problem solving.

The magnets will make learning about forces exciting and they will be able to do hands-on experiments. They love to use any kind of building blocks and materials and create amazing things.

The STEM and Science kits will give them the opportunity to further their knowledge in science, technology, engineering and math.
