Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the best! They have a range of personalities that keep me smiling each and every day. I teach a wide range of students from special education to regular education to English language learners. Each child brings something special to my class. Some of my students are extremely outgoing, answering questions every chance they get. Others are more introverted and require a little more encouragement to open up. They are more than just students to me, they are my "kids."
I am fortunate to live in the community in which I work.
My own children go to this school. I see my students often outside of the learning environment such as at the grocery store or a restaurant. I am able to meet the parents of my students and form awesome relationships with them and my students. My students are always so excited when they see me out and about.
My students are talented! They are involved in so many amazing activities from theater to band to art to swim etc. They love to talk about their accomplishments and they love even more when I am able to come and see them perform. They amaze me!
My Project
This year I have implemented some flexible seating options in my classroom and my students have loved them! It has helped with their focus, their energy, and their posture. They have commented on how much they like the seating options and how it helps them to feel more comfortable in class. It has been beneficial for all my students and they can't wait till they get a chance to choose.
Flexible seating has changed the way I teach and the way my students are learning.
I was able to fund many of the items in my room from a tall kitchen table to exercise balls to a low to the ground table. Now I would like to add some more options. Our library has some of the active chairs that the students enjoy, therefore, I would love to add these to our options. At my low table the students have mentioned that they would like some stools to make them a little taller and these stools are the perfect height! I love to think outside the box and these seating options have been amazing. Any help you could provide will bring my students a whole lot of smiles! Thank you!
