This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
GAP students are motivated to learn! They love to read and consistently reach their quarterly AR goals. Our class library is a favorite place for them to visit before school and lunch. I enjoy watching them browse through the books searching for their next great find, and listening to their enthusiastic conversations as they discuss book recommendations with their peers.
I teach in a Title I school that is located in a rural community.
Our school serves the educational needs of over 600 students in grades K-6. The Gowan Achievement Program (GAP) consists of 92 4th-6th grade students. They have higher achievement scores and are highly motivated to dig in and learn to be lifelong learners.
My Project
My students need book sets that will bring history to life! As we study ancient Egypt and the American Revolution, they will be able to read a historical fiction account of characters during this time in history. In addition, they will be able to apply their reading analysis skills which are necessary for their continued reading development.
Shared reading is important for students.
Our program and school does not have the funding for the purchase of new book sets. Your generous donation would not only provide my students with their own copy to read this year, it would be in the classroom library for future students to enjoy as well!
