My students need a quality drone to take photos and record videos which will be utilized for instruction and creative class projects across multiple subjects, including math, science and social studies.
My second grade students are creative, curious, kind and full of energy! They come into class each morning with a smile on their faces, excited to learn. My students spend a great deal of time working collaboratively to create and solve problems in new and exciting ways. In class, they use a balance of both digital and traditional resources throughout the day. They absolutely love sharing what they have learned with their teachers, peers and families. My students' passion and enthusiasm for school and learning is contagious and inspires me to provide my students with fun, creative, collaborative and challenging learning opportunities on a daily basis.
My Project
Student and teacher created videos are powerful! They are changing the ways in which students learn, collaborate and demonstrate their learning. Four years ago, I began making instructional math videos for my students as a resource that they could utilize at home and in the classroom for additional support. These videos have inspired and engaged my most reluctant math students. I am always looking for new and exciting ways to foster high levels of learning across all subject areas, which is why I want to take lesson creation to new heights with a drone!
By donating to this project, you will be helping to revolutionize the ways in which students learn, create and solve problems.
This drone will be used to take photos and videos which will be embedded into lessons and digital texts for my students. Students will also be embedding the photos and videos from the drone into their projects throughout the year.
In Social Studies, Students will use photo and video of community from above to aide in creating a community eBook for all students throughout the district to use. They will also be used within our mapping unit.
In math, the drone can be used to capture footage to create real-world story problems and lessons regarding perimeter, area and geometry.
In science, the drone can be used throughout our entire balance and motion unit to make observations, hypothesis and conclusions.
Our PTA is raising money for a new playground. I can use photo and video footage from current playground (showcasing issues) to create a promotional video.
