Creating Empathy Through Books and Teens

Help me give my students access to read as we just set up a book club at Mariner High School.

My Project

As the book club advisor at Mariner High School, one of Washington state's most diverse high schools, I’m seeking funding for two powerful books: All My Rage by Sabaa Tahir and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

My students come together out of a genuine love for reading and a desire to build empathy through stories that reflect struggle, resilience, and hope.

These books spark deep conversations about identity, loss, and human connection. Your support will put meaningful literature into the hands of eager readers who are learning to see the world—and each other—with greater compassion.

Thank you so much, as we are funding this club through this grassroots effort. My students spent a great amount of time selecting these two titles, which we feel will benefit our club.
