Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Working collaboratively online, using our class website is imperative in my call. If you spent a day in my class you would see the prompts, artwork, or questions I have posted on the board for discussion and students engaging with difficult text using research online and typing directly online.
My students are freshmen and Senior students in Gilroy, Ca who are a part of a community of learning focused on the 21st century.
However, there is a gap that must be bridged, in terms of access to educational technology.... They are gutsy, funny, engaged young people who generally enjoy education and working to better themselves.
My Project
The iPad mini that I am requesting will be used to access research materials online and to give students the access they need to email, Google products and our class website. The case is said to be "indestructible" which is great because it will help the tech last longer and allow me to be more comfortable in allowing tablets to be used in groups.
This project makes a difference because my student are anxious and ready to become 21st century citizens, students and masters of their own education.
All they need is the help with funding and access to the tech that will allow them to work collaboratively, creatively and to think and work critically.
