My Students
As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, my young students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite these many challenges, I work to provide a learning environment where my students can achieve great things through creative and meaningful learning experiences.
"Kiss your brain" is a phrase we use to celebrate the amazing learning that happens daily.
This learning can look like; puzzling through how to build letters and numbers out of blocks, exploring in our sensory table, building pattern trains, creating gigantic animals out of paper and also connecting to, and expanding on the stories we read daily. I enter into my classroom daily with the goal of creating a learning environment where my students have their curiosity piqued, their learn expanded and are encouraged to be successful life-long lovers of learning.
My Project
As we approach the beginning of our new learning theme "Imagine it, Make it", my classroom is in need of resources/activities that connect to the theme while also supporting students' development of alphabet knowledge and mathematical understanding. With the incorporation of the Stand-Up Magnetic Write & Wipe Center and the Magnetic letter builders set, my students will be able to exploring how shape and line come together to create letters and words. Also, with the addition of the Young Architects Design Blocks and Design Builders into our Active Learning time, our whole-group learning and our small-group activities, my students will have increased opportunity to create, explore and design while developing find motor skills and STEM knowledge. Building a strong foundation of both literacy and mathematical understanding is the focus of these preschool years, and it is with your generous donation to our project that this will happen.
