Help me give my students books to read and journals for mindfulness to start each class, and a iPad so students can translate as needed when I walk around the room to support.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My school has a 70% English Language Learner population, as well as students who are housing insecure, and have had interrupted, limited, or no education. For students whose first experience with school is high school there is an adaptation since they are not used to the routines of an institution.
In order to create a positive culture, and invite students into the world of education, an entry point is to journal and discuss at the beginning of each class, and the use of the iPad will provide support so students can use translation to share.
In addition, having a book club will open the door to literacy and literature, and what better way than to dive into the world of Dragon Riders!
