Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students love to come into the art classroom and discover their creative side. Students come into my classroom feeling like they are not artist or creative and as the year progresses students begin to discover how to be creative thinkers and how they can apply their creative to other subjects.
My students come from low income households and for some school is important for them to form relationships and feel safe.
My art classroom is all about forming those important relationships that will help shape their future. Students enjoy having art in their schedule. Students come in not having any experience in art and creativity and by the end of the year realize their creative potential. Students are taught that creativity can be applied to all subjects and not just visual arts. Students are taught how to be creative problem solvers through various art assignments.
My Project
The materials I am asking for are for several projects that I do throughout the school year. The rulers are used throughout the school year and by students in future classes. I am asking for modeling wire and clay for an assignment on character design, students are taught about the steps artist go through to design stop motion animation characters for the movies, making rough sketches, final sketches and then creating the sculpture. I am also asking for newsprint for ceramics assignments where students learn about making various designs based on themes and transfer colored slip designs onto clay.
Disneyland CREATE
These assignments are the most popular assignment that I do with my 3D design students.
Students learn how to be creative problem solvers, work as a team though sharing designs and giving and receiving feedback and making revisions to their assignments. Assignments helps students learn that they have a creative side. Students lean to problem solve as they work assignments and need to make revisions and build sculptures and clay projects.
