Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The materials requested will allow my students to learn how to make skin tones which is an amazing experience. The combinations of colors it takes to create their specific skin tone is a real learning experience for the kids; they find they have hues in common even though the end results vary!

My students will learn about Art History, color mixing, enlarging, patterns and composition.

Most importantly, as Kehinde intended my students will see a little of themselves within the work of old masters; placing a greater connection between the past and present. Kehinde Wiley a BIPOC artist was frustrated as a child because there was a lack of BIPOC artists and portraits within the museums. As an adult he took matters into his own hands; staging those classical poses and recreated them using people of color in contemporary clothing. This idea speaks volumes! It's just the experience my students need to excite them about Art & History...study it and be a part of it!
