Creating Community in Our Room

My Project

Giant floor puzzles and wooden puzzles give students with motor challenges the opportunity to successfully assemble puzzles. This is an activity they can do with peers to develop communication, motor, and social skills.

My students have disabilities including autism, Down syndrome and learning disability; most are on free or reduced lunch.

Our small district has over 80 languages.

Snack time provides an opportunity to develop social emotional skills, communication, adaptive skills and overall independence and helps with self-regulation. We develop literacy skills by ordering off a menu of snacks and reading information labels.
