This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students I teach mostly come from families that live in poverty and poverty-stricken homes. Some of my students live in single-home parenting situations. Others have become the responsibility of grandparents and family members.

When my students enter my classroom, I want them to feel loved and know that somebody cares.

Seeing those eyes widening as they see all the wonderful things to explore makes me happy. It brings joy to my soul. Students have an opportunity to see the impossible become possible in a matter of days in my class.

My heart’s desire as an educator is to give students the experience of a lifetime. Students can sit in a library and choose whatever book they want, practice cooking in my home living, or enjoy moving and grooving to the sound of jazz. Providing English, math, science, and social studies lessons sets the foundation for their journey.

My Project

The resources and materials that I am requesting for my students already have a "home." I know precisely where they will go. We just want your support in getting everything through our door! The patterning, sorting, and measurement materials will be placed in our math center on the shelf and used as a gathering place during mini-lessons and share time. The slice & serve play food and doctor's office will be stored in a dramatic play area this will allow students with doctor visits and what to expect during appointments. Little hands tool tote will go on the block shelve. Students today have no clue about building tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, nor the use of a saw. The blank hardcover books, peel & stick Jewels, and easy stick glitter shapes will be placed on the table in the middle of our classroom and will help the Writer's Workshop process run smoothly from day to day. The Mexican and Nigerian puppet will be used to help students learn about the diversity of cultures in our classroom. The indestructible giant beads & patterns will shelve in the art center students will learn how to make patterns. The materials will be used for mini-lesson throughout the day.
