My classroom is filled with an array of diversity. We are the epitome of a melting pot school. Our class is made up of a variety different types of learners. Each special child brings something unique from their culture to our Queens community. My class is made up of an "American Dream" and it would be an absolutely amazing experience for our young journalists to come together and create a community newspaper for all to read that is creative and colorful.
My Project
Students will be using these materials to create their own newspapers. They will be working on this during our journalism unit. The materials will excite the kids. Who doesn't love glitter? The materials will show them that the end result will be something that they will have forever that THEY created. The motivation of glitter pens and their very own book will be a great start to getting them to observe stories. It's a difficult unit for nine and ten year old students. By showing them all the creative tools they will be able to use will inspire them to put their journalism hats on and begin!
