Creating, Collaborating and Critically Thinking with LEGO
My students need LEGO sets to help them learn in an engaging, creative and collaborative way that allows them to develop critical thinking skills.

My Students
First graders have a natural curiosity to create, build and explore. They are learning how to collaborate with other students and are excited and engaged by hands on learning opportunities.
My students are highly energetic and love to build and use their imaginations.
They are creative and eager to invent new design which is evident when they are proud of their accomplishments and eager to share what they have created Our school is a Title-1 school in which approximately 65% of the students are on free and reduced lunch.
My Project
My students will learn that creativity, collaboration and critical thinking are highly valued in the classroom. The Lego kits will be used during writing to create scenes that they will write about, during math to model addition and subtraction problems and non standard measuring and during social studies to learn about communities and maps. Students will also be using these kits to create whatever they want when the weather forces us to stay inside for recess. Students will be working in collaborative groups and will be learning how to negotiate and collaborate with their peers in addition to thinking creatively and critically.
Donations to this project will help my students use their natural creativity and allow them to practice negotiating with their peers.
Kids love Legos and I can't wait to see how excited they will be when our new Legos arrive!
