Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

During 2020, with the onset of COVID, my school provided students with supplies to help them and their families stay safe, clean, and healthy. These materials greatly helped my 6th graders in RPS, especially as more than half of the students in our district are low-income and do not always have access to the healthcare supplies everyone deserves. However, with the return to in-person school, the funds and efforts that had provided those supplies went away again as things were supposedly "returning to normal."

Now, more than ever, our students still need basic supplies to help us all stay safe and healthy; that is why I am asking for hand sanitizer, Clorox wipes, and tissues.

I will distribute these supplies not only in my own classroom this year but throughout my school's 6th-grade teachers' rooms so that we all can better support our students and community and provide them with the care they deserve.

Every little bit helps our students, their families, our staff, and our school community take care of ourselves and each other. Even though remote learning has ended, we still are all in this together.
