Creating Clay Monsters

My students need clay and glazes to create clay monsters.

My Students

My students are excited to learn about art in all aspects. I want to expose my students to as much as possible. Due to the expense of some art materials this can be difficult. Clay is a material my students get extremely excited about. With help, I can let students experience clay and all its glory.

I teach 7th and 8th graders.

My students come in excited to learn and create art. Art is usually their favorite class period of the day. They love to create and experiment. My school is located in a rural area. The majority of my students classify as low-income.

My Project

Using the clay and glaze, my students will create clay monsters inspired by clay artist, James DeRosso. Students will learn to use basic clay techniques in a creative way. Students will create personas for their monsters through the creation of a short story.

Clay can be a rather expensive project for an art teacher.

By receiving donations, I can give my students access to this exciting material. This is an experience my students don't get exposed to often.
