I have the privilege and honor of working with a bright and lively bunch of kindergarten students in a rural community in Western Oregon. Students show up every morning eager and excited to learn. The school that I work at is a Title I school.
The school staff and community strive to create a caring and supportive environment where every student no matter their background is able to reach their full potential as a student and a member of society.
My Project
One of my classes favorite times of the day is our class meeting time. We usually have this everyday at the end of the day. During this time we talk and learn about things like sharing, being kind, trying out best, and social skills.
The materials that I am requesting especially the books will allow me to build a social skills library of stories that I can use to teach students about these very important life skills during our class meetings.
The chairs and table will allow for flexible seating during our classroom meetings and during our academic learning time during the day.
