Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My inspiration for this project came from thinking about what makes at-risk youth less motivated to learn and remain unfocused academically. I decided that, with the support of my admin team, I would take a large classroom and divide it into different rotations or skills that needed to be practiced with students that are the lowest academically.
These beautiful materials will create an inviting and engaging atmosphere that attracts students to focus on the task at hand while being surrounded by a lovely environment.
My hope is that I could set up a writing section at a dining table where I can work one on one with students on their writing deficiencies. A second rotation will focus on reading, and an instructional aide will sit on these lovely chairs and read books with students. Last, another corner with professional, comfortable chairs will focus on building grammar skills in teams.
All of these rotations have been curated and inspired by what my experience in working with these students has taught me they need more of. These student are from low socio-economic situations or from war-torn homes around the world. I want to entice them into learning with a beautiful place visually.
