Creating Awesome Arguments In and Outside of the Classroom!

Help me give my students the means to "argue" well! Good writers are good communicators. Please help me help my students develop into great communicators by adding "Thank You for Arguing" to our classroom curriculum library!

My Students

My students are creative, collaborative learners! They enjoy working in pairs and small groups.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds.

Some students have lived in our community all their lives, as their parents did before them, some are new to the state, the country, and the American way of life!

This year, we are studying the American Dream through literature from colonization to modern day. Some students are avid readers, but for many, technology is much more interesting. We need texts that spark interest and help students connect to their own community!

My Project

I would like to use "Thank You for Arguing" as a cornerstone of our writing curriculum. The text helps students identify components of a good argument, understand the audience, and fill their writing toolboxes with rhetorical strategies to persuade a reader.

The skills introduced in this text are skills that will improve student writing in the classroom, boost their SAT writing scores, and make them excellent communicators in their future careers.

The accessibility of the skills presented in "Thank You for Arguing" will not only keep students interested, but eager to continue with their writing for class and the future.

Please help my students become great at the task of arguing for what they believe. Your donation, will help me help my students become more articulate and thoughtful writers.
