My Project
Imagine eighth graders who are actively engaged, asking questions, and making connections in science class! That's the future I see for my classroom with your help. I am finishing my first-year teaching eighth-grade science and have relied mostly on graphic organizers and lab sheets provided by the textbook for building student notebooks this year.
I am now looking for ways to make science come alive for my students and I believe that the Weibert Science training will help.
This training program will equip me with two powerful strategies: Sketchnoting and CER (Claim, Evidence, Reasoning). Sketchnoting helps students visually capture key concepts and make connections between ideas. CER teaches students to think critically, analyze evidence, and build strong scientific arguments. With your support, I will receive lessons on sketchnoting techniques, CER resources, a printed workbook, and a unit planner to integrate these strategies throughout the year.
I plan to develop a year-long science curriculum that incorporates sketchnoting and CER, ensuring these valuable skills are used throughout the entire school year.
Your donation will directly impact the learning experience of my students, fostering a love for science and equipping them with the tools to think critically and creatively.
