My Project

My students are all unique in their own ways. I have students who are learning to speak English, students from other countries, from the mainland (continental U.S), and students from the islands. They all bring different views of the community and the world. I think it is important to teach them how to embrace their different views. I like to do this through art. Not just a one time drawing or painting, but to have it on one that would last for years to come. I want to guide them to express their own individuality through art and to keep that memory with them. To always be their own individual selves and that it's okay to see things differently, this is how we can learn about others' perspectives too; not only through their lenses of the classroom but when they go into their community, and in the world. So I am asking for funding to gather these materials so that they can have a lasting memory.
