My Students

Robotic team 6366 is a group of students from several different South Carolina communities. They range in age from 14 to 17 years and work to build a working robot of roughly 200 pounds that can complete the competitive tasks set by the FIRST organization (www.first.org). Students work together with mentors to create the plans for the robot, design the robot using CAD, machine parts, wire the robot electrically, program the robot to complete the tasks, and ensure that it is well-constructed enough to withstand blows if necessary.

Students learn true engineering skills and the skills to work as a team under pressure.

We are truly providing students with the skills and training to prepare to be leaders in industry in the 21st century. Students are excited to learn in a hands-on environment and literally can not wait to get their hands on "real life" materials and machines.

My Project

Students will have access to their futures in engineering by performing real life hands on tasks! By utilizing a computer capable of supporting the most popular and utilized engineering software, students will be able to design parts for a working robot that will complete designated tasks. Students create, through mechanical design, a machine that is capable of completing the task set forth by FIRST. Students can create a virtual prototype on the computer. Sometimes when students design robots, they need a part that does not exist. In this case they can use the laptop and its software to design parts that will later be machined by other members of the team.
