Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) to a diverse group of students in Greenville, South Carolina. Many of them are new to the United States and face the challenge of adjusting to a new language, culture, and school system. These students are resilient, curious, and eager to learn, and they deserve a classroom that supports their academic and emotional needs.
To create a classroom that welcomes and reflects the cultures of my students, I’m requesting materials that will help decorate and organize the space in meaningful ways.
With your support, I will be able to provide:
Bilingual classroom decorations (Spanish-English)
World maps and multilingual posters
A light-up cinema box to display vocabulary or inspirational quotes
Soft seating/floor cushions for group reading and discussions
Culturally inclusive books in both English and students' native languages
Storage bins and organizers to keep materials accessible and the space inviting
A well-decorated, organized, and culturally sensitive classroom will help my students feel safe, seen, and supported as they build confidence in their English skills.
This project will transform our ESOL classroom into a space that reflects students’ identities, encourages participation, and builds community. Your donation helps foster not only language development, but also belonging, pride, and motivation.
