This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I strive to create a classroom environment where students feel safe to express their feelings and to take risks. Fourth grade is an exciting year as students are now considered “upper grade” students. With that comes the expectation for students to be responsible for their choices and their learning. I have very high expectations of my students and they always rise to the occasion. In our classroom students feel safe to take risks and persevere in their social, emotional, and academic growth.

My Project

Home Sweet Classroom! We all like to be comfortable when we are working on a task or project. Many of us have a favorite spot at home where we get cozy with our books, magazines, phones, etc., Pleasure or work we like to be comfortable. My students have the same needs in the classroom.

I don't require my students to stay seated at their desk when completing a task or independent reading time.

My students are encouraged to move around the room to find a comfortable spot where they can produce their best work with minimal distraction.

The variety of seating choices I have chosen along with several yoga balls already in our classroom will support student learning by giving them choices for a comfortable learning environment.
