Help me give my students a welcoming space to feel more comfortable, cleaning supplies and nutritional items that help serve students' basic needs of hunger in order to provide equitable learning to grow.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Working with our future leaders of America takes teamwork, dedication, and a large support system. The students at my school have such great personalities. Understanding their choices and how their choices reflect the outcome has been very exciting to be apart of. They are learning how to be independent learners while dealing with small problems and learning how to make good choices to solve their problems independently.
We have such amazing students who have such great potential.
Many times their genius minds require different methods of learning styles. As a counselor, it is always an honor to work with students who are able to demonstrate the learning process and have positive learning outcomes that benefit their social-emotional growth.
My Project
The space where I currently work does not feel welcoming or inviting to our students. The goal is to maximize the space with furniture that allows more work to be done in the center of the office. Removing the barrier of large tables and a large desk will allow me to provide a more welcoming and warm experience for students, families, and community members.
Creating a space that brings joy, hope, and happiness, while working through some of their daily needs is the vision of our job as a counselor.
Creating an open concept in the counseling office will allow healing, learning, and our students' authenticity to shine.
By helping provide these materials, we are creating a space that students can use their creativity to influence their social and emotional goals and advancements according to their development level.
