Creating a Sensory-Friendly Classroom for Every Learner
Help me give my students therapy putty, a bean bag chair, and other sensory supports such as math manipulatives and writing instruments for the classroom.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am incredibly fortunate to work with a group of diverse and resilient students, each with unique needs and strengths. Many of my students benefit from sensory supports, which help them stay focused, regulated, and engaged throughout the school day. These students have a wide range of learning styles and sensory sensitivities, which can make traditional classroom settings challenging. That’s why I am requesting sensory-friendly materials that will support them in a meaningful way.
The items I’ve selected will provide immediate support in helping students regulate themselves, stay focused, and feel more comfortable in the classroom.
These resources will give my students the space they need to thrive, enabling them to focus on their learning without being overwhelmed by sensory distractions.
My goal for this project is to create an environment where each student can access learning in a way that supports their individual needs. Whether it’s through a quiet space with calming sensory tools or providing tactile stimulation to help focus, I want every student to feel empowered and capable of reaching their full potential.
