Behavior management and classroom management are two of the most challenging skills for a teacher to master. The program of Conscious Discipline helps teachers and students to create a classroom that is safe for learning and free from behavior problems.
I have a Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education.
I have been a teacher for over 20 years. The past 14 years have been spent in high-needs schools teaching Pre-Kindergarten. The biggest challenge that I have faced every year is, "How to keep classroom and behavior management positive with the ever-changing population of students?"
Many years ago, I attended a workshop that introduced me to Dr. Becky Bailey and the program Conscious Discipline. This program opened my eyes and changed the way I looked at classroom and behavior management. The program reinforces the positives and shows how we can work together to create a "School Family."
My Project
The Conscious Discipline training DVDs would be used as a refresher course for me and an introduction to the program for my teaching assistant. The program teaches how to create a positive environment of trust, how to work with challenging behaviors, and how to change our mindsets to best help our students.
I would also use the DVDs to help with parent education. Many parents see the same challenges at home that teachers see in the classroom. By offering parent education, we would maintain a consistency for our children that is so important in behavior management.
The books and tools which I have requested can also be used with students to teach them self-regulation.
The use of this program for training at all levels- student, parent, teacher- will have a positive effect on the classroom. The classroom will become a safe place for my Pre-K learners to explore, learn, and grow!
The books and DVDs that I have requested would be used for teacher training, parent education, and as student resources to help with classroom and behavior management.
