This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a school social worker, I am committed to providing a nurturing environment where every child feels supported and valued. I recognize that some students face challenges that may impact their emotional well-being and ability to thrive.
My goal is to create a safe haven where students can seek comfort and guidance throughout the school day.
That is why I am asking for support to create a cozy and inviting environment to facilitate meaningful interactions and foster trust between students.
With your generous contribution, we aim to purchase essential furnishings and materials to transform an ordinary room into a comforting space for our students. Specifically, we are seeking funding for:
- Love Seat Couch: A comfortable seating area where students can relax and engage in confidential conversations with me, the school social worker. This love seat will serve as a comforting refuge for students during times of distress.
- Social-Emotional Materials: I recognize the importance of equipping my office with resources that promote social-emotional learning and self-awareness. Your contributions will allow me to acquire conversation cubes, the “Connect More” game, and the “Calm Ball”. These materials aim to address topics such as feelings, empathy, conflict resolution, and mindfulness.
- Fidgets and Sensory Toys: For some students, having access to fidgets and sensory toys can provide a valuable outlet for managing stress and anxiety. I plan to provide a variety of tactile objects, such as “The Coping Skills Thumball” and stress balls to support students' self-regulation and concentration.
By furnishing my social work office with these essential items, I hope to create a supportive environment where students feel empowered to address their concerns and build resilience.
