I am the librarian at Woodlake Elementary School, grades Pre-K through 3, 720 students. We are nestled in the woods just north of Lake Pontchartrain, LA. This is a very old school. We were affected by Hurricane Katrina. I have done what I can to update the library for the comfort of my students. However, all of our furniture is old. The tables are bellied; and the chairs are broken, mismatched plastic. We have vinyl tile on the floors; therefore the library is always very noisy. This makes reading, learning and thinking difficult for our whole student body, as they are all my students through out the week.We use the library for parents, staff, teachers and students to hold meetings. Everyone in our school community would benefit from having new furniture.
