This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
First grade is a very important year for reading, and my students need a large selection of books to choose from. Literacy is a huge part of our day in first grade, and it will help my students to be motivated to read by the books in our classroom library.
My students attend one of six elementary schools in our school district. Our school is very diverse, with many students coming from different countries who speak more than one language. My students are eager to learn how to read, and to learn how to become better readers.
My Project
First grade is a huge year for reading. Students really begin to understand how to read and understand what they are reading. Motivation does not come easily for some students, so we need a wide selection of books for our classroom library for my students to choose from!
Children are interested in many different types of books, and it is my job to be sure those interests and needs are met. Students need a large selection of books to help them grow as readers in first grade.
