Creating a Makerspace

Help me give my students Legos, brain flakes, magnetic tiles and other items to create a makerspace in our classroom.

My Project

The items I am requesting will provide my students with a new type of learning. These items will be used to start our classroom makerspace. Each week students will use these items to solve a variety of tasks. When STEAM is incorporated into weekly lessons, it quickly becomes students favorite part of the week.

The goal for this project is to challenge my students way of thinking.

A makerspace fosters creativity and personalized learning strategies. Makerspaces foster innovation through hands-on experimentation and engineering. Students develop the ability to think critically and learn effective problem solving through activities in a makerspace. While working in a makerspace students also develop communication and collaboration skills they need to be successful in the 21 century.

The students at my school are so special. We are a small school in rural Alaska with a little over 100 students. Our school integrates Tlingit language and culture creating a beautiful learning environment.
