Help me give my students the love of reading. Recently, many of my students have asked if they can read Harry Potter, and I strive to gets books that will continue to grow their love of reading.
I work in the San Bernardino, CA. Our school is a Title I school and many of our students need additional support in order to excel academically. I currently teach a 3rd/4th grade combination class that is filled with awesome students who love learning and who come to school every day seeking a challenge. My students enjoy the feeling of success when they accomplish a new skill and my goal is to ensure that they are ready to meet the challenge.
The population of students that I work with struggle with reading, but they try their best everyday.
They require academic assistance and small group instruction. My students work hard everyday, and I want to give them every opportunity to learn.
My Project
I strive to create a love of reading for all my students. Everyday we read a chapter book together, and the students love being transported into another world. These books will continue to enhance my student excitement for reading and encourage them to read more.
These books not only help enhance their love of reading but help them grow their reading abilities.
These books will give all students the opportunity to read more complex texts while still enjoying reading. My students are continually asking me what book are we reading next, and I strive to find books they want to read. By using books that they are interested in, I can help engage students and create activities that will help them academically and creatively.
