My Project

Help me increase my students' love for reading! The novel, Hatchet, is one my teacher read with us when I was in middle school, and I remember my favorite part of the school day was when I got to ELA class to read more and find out what would happen next!

This is an entertaining novel that will keep my students on the edge of their seat as we read, which is something I think will benefit them!

I want to foster a love for reading in my students because it is a good outlet for them if they need to escape reality for a while. Some of my students already love books, but I want them all to experience a great book that will change their perspective of reading!

My students are each special in their own ways. They have a widespread variety of personalities, and they have different interests and view. However, they all like a good nail-biter and to not be able to guess what will happen next.

I think this will be a good change of pace for us: to be able to read a novel together rather than short stories like we have been doing all year. You see, we were unable to do a novel study thus far into the year because we were focused on preparing for the State Test. Once they have completed the test, we will be able to focus on a longer text, and one they will be much more involved and invested in.

I can't wait to read this book with my classes and see what they think of it!
