Creating a Love for Reading and Math Through Games

Help me give my students games, puzzles, and books in order to help them learn and cooperate together through playing and reading. Children learn best through play and I have found that children love games and puzzles.

My Project

Playings games and working together not only helps build a sense of self worth, but also helps students build confidence in their understanding of math and phonics concepts. I would love for my students to have games to play that reinforce the concepts they are learning in my classroom. Students understand more when they can put what they are learning into practice.The use of whiteboards would be daily activity in my classroom. We would use them in math for guided practice and to record modeled strategies. The whiteboards allow me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. We would also use them during our phonics time to work on spelling, writing sentences, or having letter writing races.

The donations to this project will improve my students' understanding of and competency in phonics and math through playing games.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them math and phonics games in the classroom. Many students do not play board games or put puzzles together anymore and I want them to know how much fun they can be. I want each of my students to build confidence in their knowledge and understanding of phonics and math concepts. Playing games and building puzzles while working together will help each students become more confident in their abilities to learn. Playing games and doing puzzles isn't always about winning or putting in the last piece, it can also be about building relationships with one another, learning to solve problems together and also learning that winning isn't everything. Sometimes playing a game or doing a puzzles can be just for fun.
