My students need materials to enhance ELA in our classroom like a Comfy Corner Listening Center, Writing Center, and puzzles - Alphabet, Rhyming, and Beginning Sounds.
Reading and writing are two of the most important milestones that occur in a child's life since both allow them to relate with their surrounding world and help them communicate with others successfully. Knowing this, I want my student to harbor a love for reading and writing.
My school is in a small rural community.
I have 22 students ranging from 3 to 5 years of age. My classroom is a diverse group of boys and girls who attend school 4 to 5 days a week for half a day. My classroom is a blended Early Childhood preschool with special needs children included. Many of my students are eligible for free/reduced breakfast/lunch and do not have the opportunities to have a safe, relaxing place to listen to a chosen story.
My Project
The Comfy Listening Center, Writing Center, and other materials to enhance reading and writing will be placed in my English Language Arts center. This will allow all students to have access to listening to stories on CD, learning to write, and building an understanding of the English language. Students need to be read to several times a day. It is beneficial for them to hear different storytellers. The Writing Center will give my boys and girls a place to go to to express themselves in a variety of ways. The other language arts materials will help my students learn rhyming, letters, and beginning sounds.
Donations to my project will improve my classroom through building communication skills among my students.
Reading and writing are important because they enable a child to enter the world of learning. I hope to foster a love for reading and writing among my students. This project will give my students attractive and inviting centers and materials to foster a love of communication.
