As a biology teacher, I strive to make science interesting, fun and hands on. Coming from a low socioeconomic area and having dealt with two major hurricanes in the past three years (Hurricane Matthew and Hurricane Florence), my students are constantly defying the odds. It is my wish to provide my students with the knowledge they need to succeed in whatever step they take next; whether it be college, additional education or the workforce.
About half of the students at my school are economically disadvantaged.
My students are eager to learn and willing to work hard in order to succeed. It is my wish to create a classroom, a safe place, for my students to be able to learn, work and collaborate. I wish to provide them with adequate resources, creating an equal learning opportunity for all students.
The supplies and materials I am requesting for my project will help students create a Guide to Biology Interactive Notebook which will ensure their success in high school Biology and act as a reference guide in their college Intro to Biology course. All of these supplies will be used by students. Throughout my teaching career, I have learned that students need exposure to a variety of teaching and assessment.
By donating to our project, you will not only help ensure student success, you will ultimately make Biology fun and hands-on for all students.
Students will be able to focus on learning and creating, not whether they have the supplies necessary for class.
