Creating a Diverse Class Family

My Project

Each year, every class comes with different children, resulting in such a wide variety of projects. We began the year by reading books about being at school. We talked about the expectations. Building a classroom community is not something that happens immediately. Sometimes a new approach is needed.

We learned about families, and the diversity of each family.

We can use these materials to represent our individual personalities, all while bringing a diverse group of children into a bond of family. Oftentimes, building a community is about recognizing, talking about and honoring our differences.
