My students come from a variety of backgrounds. Most of them are from single family homes and live in challenging neighborhoods. Many of my students are English-language learners. They come to me with a wide range of academic and medical needs.
Some students are significantly below grade level, and some students are substantially above grade level.
Each student has needs that need to be met, even if that is a periodic break, additional math fact practice, or even a hug.
My students benefit from differentiated instruction and the ability to choose how to apply their skills in the way they learn best. They are learning to be organized, independent thinkers, and I look to support them by providing a variety of learning opportunities.
My Project
I am requesting materials to implement writing binders into my classroom. With binders, I will be able to teach them to organize their writing & to edit/revise stories they want to revisit. The file folder dividers offer the ability for students to keep handouts, anchor charts, and work moving toward publishing.
My students come to school with so many amazing stories to tell, but they struggle when it comes to putting the ink down on the paper.
It is my goal to cultivate a love for writing by teaching different writing styles and encouraging them to write daily. Imagine the excitement when students can use colorful pens for their colorful, rich vocabulary!
