it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
A typical day in our classroom is controlled chaos! We follow the guided math model and collaborate and share our knowledge. Managing books, technology, and resources for 48 second graders, we have to be organized! We understand that in order to be successful structure is crucial.
My students come from low income homes where structure is necessary for success.
Our school prides itself on developing students who are conscious and capable citizens of their community. In my classroom students are 21st century learners who are engaged in interdisciplinary units chock full of technology and applications to the real world. Today's seconds graders need relevant experiences in order to prepare to become tomorrow's leaders. Our students are eager and capable to rise above their boundaries, however, at my school we know that it is our job to teach them the skills they will need and instill the potential that they have to better their community and themselves despite socio-economical disparities.Second grade is an exciting year, but it is also filled with pressure due to the expectation that or many kids, 2nd grade marks the beginning of being one of the "big kids" in the school.
My Project
My students need 30 seat pockets, 6 storage caddies and 12 storage bins for note and text books. No longer are they the youngest or just out of kindergarten, 2nd graders are used to their school environment and ready to take on some serious learning. Their attention span is increasing, which means he's able to learn more difficult concepts in one setting and apply them to other situations. Because of this we need access to the best resources that will make learning enjoyable and collaborative. Tables were purchased for the classrooms to provide for a better learning, more collaborative environment, but chair storage pouches were not in the budget. These tables allow the students to communicate with each other to share ideas and problem solve. My class needs a place to put our materials that can be organized and easily accessed. Time is taken away from learning when we have to store our things in baskets and bins that are not easily accessible. Students will be able to manage their personal and group materials as well as make transitions smoother.
Our students will have a common place to store their learning materials.
Urban youth have a unique work ethic and personal drive that shapes them into some of the hardest working people around. Your generous donation will give our students the gift of organization, which is a key to success. They will develop lifelong skills such as how to keep track of their supplies and how to become independent learners! These items are one of the many tools that will have a significant impact on achievement.
