My students need a carpet for whole class learning and activities.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
As a first year teacher, I am thrilled to have the opportunity to teach in my hometown that I know and love! Our community is full of fun-loving students with unimaginable potential. They will bring with them unique personalities, knowledge, and experiences into our classroom and I will do my best to highlight and value these idiosyncrasies.
Our classroom will focus on building a strong sense of empathy and community, both locally and globally.
This is a Title 1 school with over 60% of families experiencing economic hardship. As I enter into this amazing work, I will be do my best to supply these incredible students with all of the tools and resources necessary to not only develop their love of learning, but also to promote a safe and affirming learning environment!
A carpet this size is an essential piece of our classroom's learning! By providing the students with an additional learning space, students will get the opportunity to break up their day through movement. Movement is critical to allowing energetic learners to get out their wiggles and refocus on important tasks. It can accommodate a growing class of up to 30 students with designated spaces for all! The design of this specific carpet supports students' body awareness and respect for others' personal space. This is a key component to learning about self regulation in second grade.
Most importantly, a space like this will promote community in our classroom!
A gathering place like this will be used multiple times throughout the school day. It is large enough that each day can begin in a circle for morning meeting and the grid pattern is ideal for easy student pairings or groupings. When students are able to sit closely together, they can more easily share their ideas with one another and feel like they are part of a larger cohesive unit!
