Creating a Cozy and Collaborative Space for 5th Graders

Help me give my students a large rug big enough for them to all sit on. Currently, they are just sitting on the hard tile and need a large, comfortable rug to sit on.

My Project

My 23 amazing 5th graders are full of energy, creativity, and a love for learning. We spend a lot of time collaborating on various projects, discussions, and group work, often right on the floor of our classroom. Unfortunately, the tiled floor, while practical, is far from comfortable. It’s cold, hard, and not conducive to long periods of sitting or working together.

That’s why I’m seeking your help to fund a large, soft, and warm rug that will cover a significant portion of our classroom floor.

This rug will serve as a central gathering place where my students can comfortably sit, collaborate, and engage in our daily activities.

A soft rug will provide a warm and comfortable space for students to sit, which is especially important during colder months. It will allow them to focus on their work without being distracted by the discomfort of the hard, cold tiles. Our classroom is a hub of collaboration. Whether we’re discussing a new book, working on a group project, or brainstorming ideas, having a cozy space will encourage more participation and creativity. The rug will be a designated area where students can easily gather and share ideas. A central, inviting space will help foster a sense of community within our classroom. It will be a place where we come together as a class, not just for work, but also for sharing stories, playing educational games, and building strong relationships.
