My Project

This project has been created to supply students with materials that can be used in their self-selected Pirate Time sessions. Pirate Time is a school-wide program that is offered twice a week where students often self-select where they will report and what they will learn, practice, and/or experience. These sessions range from standard extracurricular meetings to intramural sports, music, crafts, reading, and much much more.

Students are looking for creative outlets!

Pirate Time has given staff the opportunity to share their interests and talents with students in a way that extends beyond our normal curriculum. Based on discussions with students, I have begun to regularly offer Pirate Time sessions surrounding craft-based activities. Crafting is one of my favorite pastimes, and I find so much joy in sharing it with students. However, the students and I have relied heavily on our ability to bring in our own materials, such as yarn, to run these sessions.

This crafty collection of yarn, plastic canvas with tapestry needles, and a beading loom will give students the opportunity to engage in high-interest craft activities that will foster strong relationships and will encourage creative design thinking.
