I would describe my middle school classroom as authentic, supportive and engaging. Students in my class have ownership of their own learning and a lot of what goes on happens organically.
In order to spark student interest in reading independently, our school has implemented the readers workshop model, which emphasizes student achievement.
In my classroom, my goal is to create life-long readers who are actively
engaged in their learning. Thank you for any help you can provide in achieving this goal!
My Project
By transforming my classroom into a reading-friendly environment, student's reading skills will grow. Reading and comprehension is regarded as a critical skill students must acquire at home and school. At the middle school level, I would like to enhance their learning through student led discussion and student initiated reading.
By creating a new reading corner in my classroom from this project, I will be fostering this space into a welcoming environment for active student discussion.
My goal is to make the space enjoyable and inviting, creating an environment that will help my students grow in their curiosity. Furnishing the space with seats and new cushions will provide a comfortable reading environment that will further their interaction with their books and with one another.
