Creating a Comfortable Learning Environment

My Project

These items will provide my upcoming 4th graders with a comfortable and calming learning environment. I am a first-year teacher and am starting next year with an empty classroom. I want to brighten up the room with lights, flexible seating, and a calm corner for the diverse learners that I will have this school year. I teach in a departmentalized classroom, so your donation will impact three 4th-grade classes (about 65 students)!

My goal is to create a classroom where my students can feel safe and relaxed so that they can focus on learning and growing.

The lamp and lights will help create a bright or dim atmosphere to help set the mood of the room (awake and energized or calm and focused). The bean bag and floor chairs will provide flexible seating for students in the "calm corner" of my room. The fidget toys will be a resource for students to use in the calm corner when they need to cool down or take a brain break. The smiley face rug will be an uplifting center to my calm corner.
