My 4th grade students have respected these items because they appreciate getting the opportunity to use them. I also allow my students to use this corner during indoor recess because of how much they enjoy the calm area and fidget tools. \r\n\r\nOne day during indoor recess, a couple of my students asked me where the chairs and fidgets came from, which allowed me to have a conversation with them about Donors Choose! In this conversation, they expressed their gratitude for the \"cool stuff\" that was donated! Thanks again for your contribution towards my Calm Corner. My students were so excited when all of our packages came. The excitement only grew as the packages were unboxed and new books finally made it to the bookshelves. \r\n We were able to finish some of our favorite series, and begin new series that we had not been able to. \r\n Students are excited for independent reading now that they have comfy cushions to sit on and new books to enjoy. Some books are proving to be more popular than others and multiple students are waiting for them to be free again to read. \r\n Students are expected to read for 30 minutes in class each day and sometimes that can be challenging when we do not have books that seem interesting.
