My students need storage sacks for their chairs, new reading books, stamps, dry erase white boards, math boards, dry erase markers and erasers to support their learning.
My students love to learn and they are actively engaged at school. Creating a more organized classroom will help my students make quick transitions. They will be able to be more focused at school and it will help them to be very successful at school. Consistency and structure supports all of us.
My students are 6 and 7 years old and they learn in Spanish and English all day long.
We are in a title 1 school that is in a high poverty area. Many of the students come from single family homes and they learn to support their family at a very young age. They are intelligent and capable children. They are excited to be at school and they love active and engaging lessons. We are all teachers in our classroom and the students know they will be asked to teach throughout the day. The interactive white boards will help us all to be able to support everyone with our learning. My classroom is filled with an active group of students that learn actively and enjoy positive reinforcement. Our school celebrates diversity and bilingualism on a daily basis. Our students are encouraged to be agents of change at a young age. They understand and acknowledge the importance of celebrating every member of their community and this supports our learning even more.
My Project
These materials will allow the children to have more space to learn in. Currently the students share materials with two groups of kids. Having their own personal space can be a challenge. The chair sacks will help the students be able to store their items while they are learning with me. The new white boards for math and reading will help the students be even more excited about learning since our current white boards are dingy and old. The new Spanish reading books will allow us to send books home to their houses. These lovely books are colorful and inviting and this will motivate the students even more. With the white boards, markers and erasers the students will become even more skilled at sharing their knowledge and supporting their learning community in the classroom. The positive stamps will help the students feel good about their successes during the day. By receiving these materials, my students will witness the actions of change agents first hand.
My students will be empowered with the use of these materials.
Interactive learning will develop creative thinkers, problem solvers and confident learners. Our classroom will become a place where transitions will be smoother and quicker. We will gain instructional time and learn that there are people in our community that support our learning. Keeping our first grade classroom active and engaging will allow all of my students the opportunity to tap into their learning style.
