Creating a Comfortable Classroom for All Learners

My Students

My students are eager to learn about the world in which they live, and they are lucky to use technology in our classroom! They love doing hands-on activities in all subjects, and enjoy using technology whenever possible.

Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the students are resilient in working through the uncertainty that surrounds them.

They are creative thinkers and questioners, and love to solve problems. It is a joy to watch them learn and understand the world around them. They come from good, supportive families, who value education and help them be involved in activities in the community.

My Project

The students I work with have had many unpredictable interruptions in their life through the Covid-19 pandemic. Because they have done so much remote learning, the students come with diverse needs and anxious behaviors. Having energy bands on their desks and chairs, and options for seating will help to accommodate their needs. Students are also likely to be more engaged if given a choice in seating that will help them. Using a classroom timer will allow students to know how long they have to complete a task. These materials will ease some anxiety for students as they work and learn in the classroom.

All students have a desire to learn in a way that will help them feel successful.

It is my goal to create a classroom environment where all learners can succeed and feel comfortable while at school, despite the Covid-19 pandemic. Because of Covid-19, students are not able to share materials. Having a stock of whiteboard markers, erasers, and headphones in the classroom will allow students to have their own supplies. With the help of all these materials, students can continue their learning smoothly, regardless of the current uncertainty.
